365 Days of Cub Scouting

Life is never dull with Scouting. I've been busy preparing for and running the Pack Pizzazz session at the January Grand Canyon Pow Wow. At the Troop level I've been helping to organize our Webelroree Camp Dilligas which is a matter of days away.

For Pack Pizzazz I've start an ambious project 365 days of Cub Scouting. My intention is to suggest an idea each day of the year for something whether it be a joke, song, ceremony, activity that the reader can adapt to there own circumstances to provide pizzazz to hteir pack. I hope it works.

A Silly Song

With the August theme being Campfire Tales and Traditions, what better than a silly song.

Enjoy.

Chicken Lips and Lizard Hips
Tune: Old Dunderbeck Scout variation

Oh, when I was a camper, I never liked to eat;
the cook'd put things upon my plate, I'd dump them on his feet;
but then one day he made this soup, I ate it all in bed;
I asked him what he'd put in it, and this is what he said.

Chorus
Oh, chicken lips and lizard hips and alligator eyes;
monkey legs and buzzard eggs and salamander thighs;
rabbit ears and camel rears and tasty toenail pies;
stir them all together, it's called the cook's suprise.

I went into the bathroom and stood beside the sink;
I said I'm feeling slightly ill, I think I'd like a drink;
The cook he said, "I've just the thing, I'll get it in a wink;
it's full of lots of protein, and vitimins I think."

Chorus

Service Project Ideas

At our last Roundtable meeting the main topic of discusion was Service Projects. A lot of the talk was about helping us humans, eg food drives etc. I'll cover more of the suggestions in another post.

What was not discussed much were our pets and how we can help them. Our pets can help us in so many ways, yet there are animals out there that need our help. These two organizations have wish lists of items they need. Why not organize a "drive" for them to help animals in need.

Camping

The Outing in Scouting is very important. At the end of our Roundtable session last night a question was asked about where good camp sites are for Cub Scout Family Camps.

Since each Pack has different needs here are a few links to find campsites.

Boomerang

A quick activity to keep Cub Scout quite.

1. Take two paint stiring sticks.
2. Glue them together to make an X.
3. Using sand paper shape the sticks.

You now have a boomerang.
